Alcolock 500
The Alcolock 500 is a state-of-the-art device which is connected to a vehicle immobiliser via a wireless system. Prior to starting the vehicle the operator must breathe into the Alcolock handset and if an alcohol level over a pre-set amount is detected in the sample taken, the vehicle will not start.
The system has been developed as the result of a collaboration between two of the world's leading organisations in the development and manufacture of breathalyser and vehicle immobiliser technology, supplying police forces throughout the world.
System Operation
From a breath sample, the Alcolock measures the amount of alcohol present which must be under a pre-set level to enable the vehicle to operate. The Alcolock can be calibrated to accommodate any level from zero alcohol present through to the legal limit, depending on the policy of the company or organisation.
In the event of the Alcolock detecting an excessive alcohol reading and the vehicle being immobilised, the system will re-set and be ready for a further breath sample to analyse. As soon as the Alcolock reads a sample under the pre-set limit the vehicle will start and be able to operate normally.
